Oasis consists of 14 luxurious apartments, including 2 penthouses, on top of a wellness plinth on the shore line of Limassol, Cyprus. Oasis is a green hearted and highly sustainable residential tower in a recreational beach area, close to the sea and part of the holiday entertainment zone of the city.
Oasis is what it literally means; a spectacular, lush and green inner space in the heart of the building. A comfortable green canyon, day lit from above, that facilitates an Escherian stairwell, inviting all residents to meet with their neighbors and take a healthy and adventurous route home. Halfway Oasis you can find retreatment in the communal garden with swimming pool, clearly visible from outside as a sculptural cut in the building with a 360 degrees panorama.
All apartments have a unique form, with the plants in the canyon as your living wallpaper
To maximize the wellness concept for the whole building we designed Oasis as a hollow core tower, opposite to a regular apartment tower with a central spine and apartments wrapped around. For this we move the elevator out of the center, to the Northside of the building, along with the naturally ventilated fleeing staircase. As a result we are able to create a spectacular outdoor space in the heart of the tower; a shaded place for plants to grow, facilitating natural ventilation and optimizing comfortable living conditions.
On every floor one or two luxurious apartments are realized, sometimes as duplexes over double height. To fully enhance the living experience and to give all residents the best of both worlds – the view outside on the Mediterranean and a view inside on the green canyon – we designed all apartments with glazed facades on both the interior and the exterior.
To support this concept we designed a structural scheme with only load bearing elements in the outer façade and the inner ring, allowing fully flexible floorplans with no physical restrictions in the interior spaces. By adding a small private garden and a generous double high green terrace in different positions for each apartment we are able to shape all floors into unique forms, with the plants in the canyon as your living wallpaper.
Thinking of materials we scoop out the tower as a rough stone object, made with cast in situ concrete in wooden molds. In all excavated places, like the canyon, the spa, the pool garden and the private balconies vegetation will be added. In contrast with the adjacent Terra building Oasis is like a square cut mold around a fluently curved green space inside; revealing a highly contextual tower, with an unexpected sustainable and lively heart inside.
