THE CUBE INTERIORS
A NEW SPATIAL LAYOUT FOR APARTMENTS
The Cube is located on a prominently visible location in the Sin el Fil district in Beirut, Lebanon. The design of The Cube is the direct result of maximizing the wishes of the client combined with the potentials of the site. The design with the stacking and rotated floor plans was immediately recognized by the client as powerful, iconic, attractive and unique.
The Cube relates to its concept and its form; a 50 meter high tower with an underground parking, built up as a lose stacking of ‘boxes’ as one could describe the different floors. It is maximized Cubism on architectural level, with a stunningly 3D appearance and unique and exclusive singular floor plans.
For the apartment on the 13th floor Orange architects was asked by the client to do the interior design. With the opportunity of only one apartment on this floor, Orange Architects designed an O-shaped, fluid and spacious interior, that moves you around the central core of the building; offering nice places to stay, with wide open views on the city all around.
For this all serving and functional elements – kitchen, bathrooms, wardrobes, cupboards – in the interior are wrapped around the core of the tower. Adjacent to this Isle, materialized in high gloss white spray paint, all living spaces are positioned, separated from each other with only 2 movable wall elements.
‘an overwhelming panorama on one side and an expressive perforated concrete girder on the other side’
The floor of the apartment will be cladded with grey cherish wood, while the inside of the girders will remain concrete. Together with the high gloss white furniture isle, and a sophisticated lighting plan, it will give the apartment its lofty appearance.
A ROOM WITH PANORAMIC VIEW
For the apartment on the 7th floor Orange architects was asked by the client to do the interior design. With 2 adjacent apartments on this floor, Orange architects designed a C-shaped, fluid and spacious interior, with one central spine in the length of the apartment, consisting of different cupboards, serving the spaces around, and functioning as a room divider.
‘The 7th is the equivalent of the modern 5 star hotel suite’
Around this central spine, materialized in high gloss white spray paint, the living and serving spaces are positioned, separated from each other by one other element that combines a walk-in closet and the kitchen counter, as a stand alone object.
The floor of the apartment will be executed in polished concrete, while the closet-kitchen volume will be cladded with walnut veneer. Together with the high gloss white furniture spine, and a sophisticated lighting plan, it will give the apartment a lofty but warm appearance.
